I think every Sassy who attended the review of Birth Mother Baskets was touched deeply by the story and passion of Gina, President of Birth Mother Baskets. As you learned earlier this week, Birth Mother Baskets is a non-profit organization which provides a gift basket, a tangible gift of love to birth mothers who have recently placed (or not so recently placed) babies or children for adoption.
I am always in awe when I meet people like Gina and her friend and organization parner Jenny Treanor who give of themselves and their time so selflessly in order to lighten the burdens of another. I think Birth Mother baskets is no exception. I was excited when I learned that I could help, in a big way, or a small way to continue their cause of serving their fellow birth parents on their journey, and if for just a moment, lighten their sorrows and pains for just a moment.
Gina handed out one of these papers to each of us. On it was written a few short words describing one of the recipients of her baskets. There was not a dry eye in the house. We needed tissues galore. These women who choose to place their babies for adoption are brave and courageous, Gina helped us to feel that. Thank you Birth Mother Baskets for this opportunity to review your cause and for the opportunity to serve in our communities.
Gina Crotts and Jenny Treanor are happy to announce the official launch of their new non-profit organization. (Although they have been sending baskets since 2003! Woot!) They would love to invite you to attend a celebration, launch party and silent auction to celebrate.
