Sure, you’ll find the word “sassy” in SassyScoops.com but it wasn’t until the girls behind the site met with Emily of Mommy Models that we discovered just how much sassy our Sassies have. For example, check out the photos in Wednesday’s review post—some seriously HOT mamas, a few of whom were making something to the camera…

Emily found a wonderfully colorful spot downtown for our backdrop. I would never have known those buildings existed if it hadn’t been our rendezvous point that day; in fact, I don’t think I could find it again! Emily’s assistant and right-hand woman Jamie made sure none of us (or our stuff) wandered off, which really was nice considering we had a few onlookers of the male type oogling us (and our stuff).

The first thing I noticed about our photographer Emily, other than her super cool name, was her friendly and easygoing manner. She had a smile on her face, quite possibly due to our antics, and went with the flow yet making sure things moved along at a good pace. She was always at-the-ready with a complement to make us feel more comfortable. Of course it helped to have all those not behind the camera cat-calling and whistling!

Though we had a few Sassies who were a bit nervous about the whole “mommy model” photo shoot thing, I’d say each and every one enjoyed the experience…even the Sassy (you know who you are) who refuses to acknowledge how seriously hot and sexy she is. Dang, that’s frustrating!

One of the things I love most about Emily’s photo shoots is the price. A Mommy Models shoot is only $65 for a full hour plus 10 of your most model-esque photos on a disk for you to keep and print as you’d like. No outrageous added fees for prints or hidden charges. Great price, great wonderful photographer, great awesome photos. Plus you get to feel like a contestant on America’s Next Top Model without the obnoxious judges. (Nigel Barker is more drop-dead gorgeous than obnoxious, so he’d be okay.) Sounds like a great Mother’s Day gift to me!

Camille: Loved Emily’s energy! Not once throughout the three hours of shooting eight crazy ladies did she show any sign of fatigue or frustration. She’s genuine and constantly smiling. Warning: she greets with hugs!
Emily: How cute is SHE?! Emily was warm and welcoming and puts you right at ease. And Jamie was fabulous managing our gear and making sure we all knew when and where to go.
Kalli: Very friendly, put me at ease immediately.
Kristina: Emily and Jamie were really laid back and easygoing. Emily even asked me what my “good side” was. Now, clearly all of my sides are my good sides, but I was impressed she made us all feel comfortable and she knew exactly what she was doing.
Michelle: Emily was really friendly and put me totally at ease. I couldn’t believe how many great, colorful picture spots there were downtown.
Quinn: Emily and Jamie were completely adorable, upbeat and friendly.
Stephanie: Emily was very friendly, upbeat, and so excited to see us. She obviously loves what she is doing and I loved seeing that.
Vanessa: I was actually quite nervous and did not know what to expect! Although when I met the two women behind Mommy Models I was put at ease; they are very friendly and down-to-earth.

What did you like the most?

Camille: Definitely the compliments. I noticed that with every single one of us, Emily found an individual trait that stood out, whether it was Kristina’s lush lips, Kalli’s eyes or Stephanie’s “spicy personality,” and brought that out in the photos. She definitely makes you “feel” like a model!
Emily: I love how Emily’s Mommy Models shoots make you feel, well, like a model. Usually moms are behind the camera but Emily brings them in front of it instead—and makes them look fabulous!
Kalli: Emily is a very natural photographer; she is easy to be around and has a happy demeanor. I like that!
Kristina: I like how Emily kept flattering me and telling me I had supermodel lips. And even though I hear that about five times a day, it was nice to hear it again. I also love how rich and vibrant the colors look. These are honestly some of my favorite pictures of me I have ever had taken.
Michelle: That she got me out of my comfort zone. I don’t usually like to be in pictures by myself, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. She also made my eyes look incredibly blue in the pictures, which is awesome. The hubs wants my “sexy pic” framed on his desk at work. {So does everyone else at his work…}
Quinn: I loved how beautiful Emily made you feel you were when you were in front of the camera. She would say things like, “Oh, there are those gorgeous eyes!” It was a really uplifting photo shoot.
Stephanie: My pictures. Seriously… she made me look how I would see myself if I was a lot skinnier and hotter. AMAZING!
Vanessa: How FUN it is! Yes, I know. Weird. Taking pictures is fun. But Emily has such fun with her subjects and really thinks outside the box.

Camille: That my braces were still glued to my teeth. {Camille, that response had me literally laughing out loud!}
Emily: Although the saturation is truly beautiful and makes everyone’s eyes and makeup look gorgeous, it made my normally tame, blonde hair look a little on the neon orange side. But at least I don’t succumb to peer pressure like all the other Sassies did when they ALL went brunette. “One of these things is not like the other…”
Kalli: Waiting around wasn’t so much fun. Watching homeless guys peeing on a bush wasn’t either.
Kristina: I wish I had more of a stripper-like pose, like Emily. It would really help my career. {Kristina, come over any time and I’ll show you how to strike that special pose.}
Michelle: There were some questionable smells in some of those downtown shooting locations.
Quinn: I’m not completely crazy about my close-up face shots.
Stephanie: Some of our group shots. But I’m sure it is hard to find a great photo of eight women, standing together, trying to pose.
Vanessa: I wish MommyModelsBlog.com website focused a bit less on the contest and more on how having a “Mommy Models” shoot rejuvenates YOU as a woman. A nice video testimonial or two would be nice as well.

Camille: Yes! She made the photo shoot a lot of fun and helped me feel very comfortable in a setting with which I’m not typically comfortable.
Emily: I’m already considering hiring her for a family shoot. We’ve never had one of just our little family and I absolutely LOVE the family shots in her portfolio on Winkfotos.com.
Kalli: I’ve never looked so hot, so yes.
Kristina: Absolutely. In fact, next time I do family pictures, or pictures for when I become a movie star, I am hiring her.
Michelle: Yes. I think she was great, very personable and the pictures turned out amazing!
Quinn: Yes, I would. I’m pretty critical of photographers because I am a professional photographer, and I feel Emily is very talented and really gives a lot for what you pay.
Stephanie: Yes. She is so much fun and really puts you at ease. You can see that in all her photos.
Vanessa: Yes! The way she worked with colors, edited the photos, the time it took to get the photos, EVERYTHING was very professional and high quality.

You can also do a group Mommy Model Shoot and each member will receive a disk with 10 personal images and up to 5 group images. That is $55 per woman! To make this even more fun, they throw a Mommy Models contest! It is for any woman 25 or older, who is married or has children. To be part of the contest you MUST wear some sexy, flirty, hot heels because it is the SHOES people will be voting for. The voting runs during the first two weeks in August and whoever wins with the most votes receives a Family Session with Winkfotos for free!

I just adore this idea! If you look through the pictures of the Mommy Models on MommyModelsBlog they are all so different but each of them are BEAMING in their pictures. I love it, I love it, I love it!

At their boutique they feature over 80 talented artisans and vendors.  You’ll find anything from clothing to home décor to baby items to the best chocolates known to man (or woman). I have picked up an adorable vintage cake plate, children’s books, original art work and much more.

This year they are doing an “Opening Night Party” on Thursday, April 29^th from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. with only a $5 cover charge. There will be a live band, fashion show, refreshments and giveaways.

The boutique officially opens Friday, April 30^th at 9:30 a.m. and is open until 9:00 p.m. that evening.  It is also open Saturday, May 1^st from 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

They are doing another new thing this year called “The Academy,” in which they offer 12 different classes. All supplies are included and they are teaching things like how to make homemade toys, vintage banners, fabric flowers and how to decorate cakes. I want to learn how to make homemade peanut butter cups from their amazing chocolate vendor! The Academy is held Friday evening, April 30^th from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and then Saturday morning, May 1^st from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

I will be there! I don’t EVER miss it and I hope to see you there too!

Emily: Really and truly, all fabulous custom-made SassyScoop jewelry aside, my favorite thing about r house couture is the love these women have for the message behind the line. I was also impressed by how much care and attention to detail they put into every piece of jewelry and accessory.
Evonne: I love that they put different sizes and shapes of tags all together—it is so me.
Kalli: The message behind the shop, adoption is a beautiful thing!
Kristina: I loved Lindsey’s shoes. I almost snuck into the back of her car to scare her to death and steal them. I also loved that the jewlery was handmade and the adoption shirts were adorable. I would totally go all Angelina and adopt a baby just so they could wear the adorable bibs.
Michelle: I loved how everything was so personalized and how they wanted each bead and component to the jewelry to mean something to you. They had a great knowledge of the different stones.
Quinn: All of their jewelry was absolutely incredible, but the SassyScoops necklaces they made for each of us are completely perfect. I loved how they gave us the silver pieces and then had lots of beads to choose from to add to our necklaces; it really made each necklace unique and sentimental.
Stephanie: Customizing my necklace. I loved being able to pick the little jewels and beads to go along with my Sassy new trinket.
Vanessa: The beautiful adoption message and love for family their lines represent. The extremely high quality, designs and how everything is made by hand; hand-cut, hand-filed, hand-stamped. How you can tell every single aspect for the company is thought through to the T and done with pride!

Camille: Having to narrow down my choices. So many cute ideas and colorful stones that it’s hard to select just one!
Emily: My least favorite thing is what others loves most: the ability to customize your jewelry. I am SO fashion-challenged that this kind of thing really stresses me out. But there is hope: the necklace I chose was Lindsey’ and Kim’s favorite. (So there, Sassies!)
Evonne: What is there not to love about three besties coming together, one goal, and all in the name of adoption?
Kalli: Uh, nothing…
Kristina: I didn’t like that they don’t have a “Kristina” necklace. I’m sure if they started carrying one it would be a huge seller. It could have a Snuggie or a picture of The Hoff on it.
Michelle: Having to choose. I took forever trying to decide what colors to use because they were all so beautiful.
Quinn: Honestly, I can’t think of anything I didn’t love. I thought the prices were awesome and the quality was outstanding.
Stephanie: The chain is a little shorter than I typically wear. But I know they said you can customize your chain length when ordering so that wouldn’t be a problem for most.
Vanessa: I have purchased a handful of necklaces from these ladies and there is absolutely nothing I think they can do to improve. Perfection.

Camille: Absolutely! I’ve already been thinking about all the special women in my life and special occasions coming up that would justify a gift from the r house.
Emily: Though there is quite a selection of hand-stamped silver jewelry in Etsy-land, very few have such a strong message and support a worthy cause, so I’d definitely buy from the r house couture when wanting a truly unique, beautiful gift.
Evonne: I would order one of everything with that secret stash of $$ I have.
Kalli: Absolutely, planning on it. Don’t tell my mom or sister.
Kristina: Definitely. I have already told several friends who have adopted their children about the store.
Michelle: I love that their hearts are in their business and their products are beautiful, so I think I would order again.

Have you seen this Etsy shop around in the blog world?

WOW. It’s beautiful and it oozes (what? you can ooze something nice) love; love for their message, love for their products, love for their customers and love for each other.

the r house couture is a group of three dear friends who were brought together because of their passion for adoption. Lindsey Redfern (therhouse.blogspot.com) dreamed of creating a shop especially for those touched by adoption.  She brought the dream to her two friends during a late craft night and that is how it all began!  If you know Lindsey or read her blog, you know she is warm, beautiful and feisty (in a good way of course, Mrs. R.), and is the mama of two little boys through adoption.

Kim Orlandini (kimsueellen.blogspot.com), a mother of three,  is one of the other masterminds behind the r house couture.  She is an amazing photographer (I love browsing her photography shoots online).  She is also adorable and unbelievably sweet. Leisha Kelsy (leishakelseydesign.blogspot.com) is also a mother of two children through adoption and is such fun! She is creative, hilarious, great at getting things done, and is crazy cute to boot!

Now, more about their Etsy Shop, the r house couture…

Their products speak to those touched by adoption, but many others as well. Custom orders are their top-selling product and I have ordered a few. My mother lost her parents and her little brother so they helped me put together a necklace to wear in remembrance of them. For my mother-in-law’s birthday they put together a necklace with her favorite saying on it: “FTF,” which stands for “Families Together Forever.”

They make necklaces, bracelets, earrings, glass pendants, charms and chains in their jewelry line. And, once again, custom orders are their best selling items so be sure to keep them in mind when choosing special, unique gifts for friends and family. A necklace or bracelet with a “tag” on it is made from thick sterling silver with HAND-stamped words.  It is also adorned with some wonderfully beautiful beads, many of which have a special meaning behind them. Some of the beads’ materials/colors/origins can represent anything from a strong woman to fertility. A lot of them are vintage, produced before World War II. Really fantastic materials go into their creations; materials that are the highest quality they can find. And how fun is it to think your necklaces are made by hand; hand-cut, hand-filed, hand-stamped and created by these three amazing ladies on their weekly get together night?

They also created a “SassyScoops” necklace for each of our Sassies that we absolutely love.  It’s such a wonderful custom order!

Where do I even begin when talking about such a unique, fun place like Anastasia’s Attic?  I have experienced Gardner Village multiple times and had never ventured that far down the path to this cute little shop.  With so many different things to look at, it is definitely a place I will need to go back to for more browsing.

The owner, Tara Starling, is so passionate and enthusiastic about her shop.  It makes you love all of the gems inside Anastasia’s Attic that much more.  All of the products that fill it up are put there with lots of thought and love.  It is nice to see someone care so much about their business and customers…it makes you want to support it that much more.

Besides finding a bracelet with my new motto “Expect Miracles” on it in the shop, I found something that has made every day a little bit better and more enchanted in our house.  Anastasia’s Attic sells fairy dust.  It makes my little princess feel extra special each morning we put it on her, and even makes big girls like me feel a little more young and special too.  It was the perfect gift to bring home to her, and definitely a gift that I would give to any princess that we come across!
